I'm pretty sure that they bring the parrots and peacocks out first thing in the morning. A GREAT way to begin the day seeing all of that COLOR!
No reason for doors OR roofs!
The WHOLE family gathers!

Destination.
The biggest water park in Central America. Xocomil is also Guatemala's most visited . . . but it's the OFF-SEASON so the population was tolerable even for me!
Designed around a Mayan pyramid, the park has seven types of water rides plus five different high-speed slides – including the 485 foot Rapidos de Xocomil, made even better by going with Rafa's seven nephews and two nieces!!
There are four different swimming pools, including one for children and one for adults, as well as two pools with waves and a beach-designated rest area.
Finally, there's the Tamala River where one can just float through the entire park on a tube. It's very relaxing, unless the one steering your tube is a nephew with an adoration for the VERY COLD water sprays along the edges of the river!
The park covers just over 19 ACRES.
There's also El Caracol (The Spiral), which takes you through a dark tunnel and then flushes you through a big funnel, and Nido de Serpientes (Nest of Serpents), with seven different courses of twisting chutes.
I was THE WHITEST person in the country.
Not a bad belly for a Fifty-year-old though.
Tim and Carlos on Nido de Serpientes.
We survived!
Rafa and Jose Carlos.
Great painting in the gable end of a roof canopy.
Someone thinks this is fun. This is not fun. This is COLD! The bucket at the top SLOWLY fills with water and then it DUMPS on you. Why is that fun?!
Massages are fun. Fancy dinners are fun.
Really nice doors . . . and not a bad looking Guatemalan . . .
Some inspiration for the new house.
Peacock ignoring the parrot.
It looks as though he's giving a very important speech. It's really TWO parrots.
The REAL Uaxactun is an ancient sacred site of the Maya civilization, located in the Petén Basin region of the Maya lowlands, in the present-day department of Petén, Guatemala. The site lies some 12 miles north of the major center of Tikal.
Rafa's parents.
Fancy restaurant for Birthday Eve dinner.
Cathead benches are very popular. I cannot find any information on why.

Great use of false brick veneer.
Food porn.
Rafa's outfit matches the National Colors.
The lobby ceiling.
Me with Ricky, one of the IRTRA mascots. Rhymes with Mickey (like the mouse) and I don't think it's a coincidence.

The whole family stayed awake to wish me a Happy Birthday at the bowling center at midnight!
I was too busy winning to take any photos.
