Their website reads: "Trail ascends through a small grove of mountain hemlock before reaching the timberline. It then traverses Blueberry Hill before reaching a saddle at the base of Flattop Mountain. Trail steepens and travels through talus field on its way to Flattop's summit. The upper route is identified by paint markings on the rocks."
What they MEANT to say was, follow the trail of blood from those who tumbled from the rocks that trick you into thinking this is an easy climb to the top.
This is the PERFECT afternoon adventure right after a 23 mile bike ride. ESPECIALLY when the sun is fooling you by ensuring that it stays daylight until midnight.
In all seriousness, it is BEAUTIFUL.
Looking out onto Cook Inlet from Blueberry Hill
Trust me, this photo does no justice to the severity of the angle of ascent . . . and it doesn't trigger a reminder that he who climbs up must also stumble down.
