Korea 2017 - Days 1 and 2

Is it too late to jump on this flight to Iceland??

Goodbye SeaTac airport.
Puget Sound

That boat looks so tiny.

Jumping right into Korean culture.  Having bibimbap on the airplane.  The word bibimbap literally means "mixed rice". It's served as a bowl of warm white rice topped with namul and gochujang, soy sauce, or doenjang. A raw or fried egg and sliced meat are common additions. The hot dish is stirred together thoroughly just before eating.

Arrived at the barracks at about 1:30 a.m.  After a five hour bus ride from Incheon Airport to Daegu, the language fun begins.  This is the MAN's room.

This will be home for the next 18 nights.

Typical Korean apartment complex.  Everything they need is there, home, supermarket, parking, doctor, school . . . This one is seen from just outside the dining facility (DFAC.)

Seen here.  My favorite place on post.  The coffee shop is second.

There are signs for every state, but this is the only one that mattered.

Jiraffita is very excited for her travel photos.

But she still loves Purple.

Typical Korean streetscape.

And another.

A BIG apartment complex.

Maewon River on the way to Camp Carroll near Waegwan-eup.

View of the city.

TONS of greenhouses follow the path of the river.

Most of the "crew" checking out the railhead at Camp Carroll.

A map of the Camp at ARSBn - FE (Army Field Support Battalion - Far East) who gave us a great tour of their facilities.

One of their M1A2 tanks, being serviced.

A stockpile of tanks and Bradleys.

A great bridge on the way back to Daegu.

And a black and white of a different view.

Movin' on Up.
